Duties and Responsibilities (* denotes essential functions):

  • *Develop a dashboard, with various data fields, that is relevant to program planning and easily usable by Outreach staff and faculty
  • *Standardize data and reporting definitions to promote consistency across reports
  • *Use commonly available date analytical tools, such as Excel, Google Sheets, and Filemaker to transform and summarize data for analyses and official reporting.
  • Research best practices at other institutions across a variety of programs
  • *Collect, compile and analyze data on current and proposed new programs, including professional credit programs, non-credit programs, and online degree programs
  • *Draft and write reports for a variety of audiences, including deans from colleges across campus and program directors
  • *Make recommendations to the dean on types of data that should be collected for program assessment
  • *Develop and apply complex qualitative and quantitative research methodologies for College program evaluation and planning
  • Work closely with IT staff on the design of databases for program review
  • *Protect data security and confidentiality, promote responsible data access and use and comply with government regulations and university policies related to student data privacy
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Professional Work Experience:

  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in education, statistics, psychology, sociology, public policy, political science, data sciences, business, economics, quantitative methods, research methods or a related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for administrative and program research analysis; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of statistical analysis methods and techniques and the ability to apply these methods and techniques to a diverse range of data and administrative systems as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
  • Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with continuing education.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software, spreadsheets, and database software.
  • If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.

Supplemental Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated data analysis skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to write well organized and articulate reports
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a diverse group of people
  • Professional experience with responsibilities for research related to the planning, review, or evaluation of educational programs

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Masters degree with coursework in statistics, data science, quantitative methods, research methods, assessment and evaluation, or tests and measurements
  • Experience in higher education
  • Experience with higher education institutional research
  • Knowledge of and experience in database design and data warehousing
  • Experience with a variety of data analysis techniques and systems
