Poll Worker Training: Trainer


The County of San Diego Registrar of Voters is seeking qualified individuals to fill temporary Training positions in the Poll Worker Training section for the June 2, 2026, Primary Election.
Trainers deliver structured, timed sessions to ensure poll workers understand and perform their duties accurately.

This role requires the ability to quickly learn detailed election procedures and communicate them clearly to diverse audiences. Successful candidates will demonstrate professionalism, patience, and integrity while working as part of a training team. Strong facilitation and communication skills, participant engagement, and non-partisan conduct are essential.

Trainers will be assigned to training locations across the County of San Diego.

This recruitment is open continuously and can close at any time once the business needs of the department have been met. Please apply immediately.

Schedule:
• Typical hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (may vary based on operational needs)
• Overtime required leading up to and during the election.
• Must be flexible to work evenings and weekends.
• Limited time off during the election cycle.

• Basic knowledge of computers, printers, office equipment, and safety practices.


Task Specific Skill/ Abilities
• Train at any assigned location within San Diego County.
• Learn and retain detailed election procedures and communicate them accurately.
• Learn and operate voting technology with provided instruction.
• Follow training scripts precisely to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Set up and operate classroom audiovisual equipment (training provided).
• Navigate training presentations on a laptop and use a presentation clicker.
• Maintain organization of supplies, handouts, and technical equipment.
• Lead interactive exercises and provide one-on-one assistance to help participants complete activities correctly.
• Maintain strong participant engagement, measured through feedback surveys, interactions, and observation.
• Address comments, personal opinions or politically charged remarks in a respectful, professional, and non-partisan manner.
• Deliver each session within the allotted timeframe while covering all required content.
• Identify training participants who may not be able to perform required Election Day duties and report concerns to supervisors.


Duties may include but are not limited to:
• Administrative support.
• Telephone skills/phone operation
• Able to handle high volume of incoming calls during elections.
• Work with minimal supervision.


Desirable Traits:
• Strong work ethic.
• Attention to detail.
• Punctuality.


Essential Physical Requirements:
• Stand for up to 4 hours.
• Capable of safely lifting 30 pounds individually and 50 pounds with a partner.


Additional Requirements:

• Provide a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance upon hire.

• Must wear employee badge and access card.

• Reset the room after each class.

• Set up and break down training materials and equipment in an organized manner

• Must follow all health and safety protocols.
