The Public Affairs Coordinator shall support senior leaders regarding the public affairs needs of the JPEO, and support in the development of materials and products to meet those specific needs. Typical responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to:
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Recommend proactive public affairs, innovative communication strategies, proven media relations tactics, and the development of unique communication materials to maximize successes and minimize or neutralize negative publicity
Support development and publishing of key messages, talking points, and themes to generate informational products on JPEO programs, projects, and products
Assist in the oversight and coordination of all information media to the benefit of JPEO, including news media, television, magazines, radio, print, and the Internet
Support the management and coordination of all JPEO media queries, interviews, and speaking engagements
Assist with the review the latest version of the JPEO Portfolio Book, and work with JPEO PR / Marketing in development
Support the development of media contacts and execute proactive media engagement tactics
Coordinate media requests, media interviews, video recordings, filming of documentaries, and photography requests
Develop and disseminate fact sheets, articles, press packages, and news release statements to communicate key themes and messages to tell the JPEO story and control the message
Support the research, writing, editing, and publishing of articles, stories, hometown news releases, program updates, and speeches
Coordinate JPEO community outreach
Plan, coordinate, and manage JPEO participation in major community / public events, exhibits, and demonstrations
Maintain JPEO command information (e.g., brochure, fact sheets, website, and video) for accuracy and currency
Assist in the development and implementation of JPEO public affairs policies and SOP and ensure that content reflects current practices and Army Regulations
Provide support to the G5 on recommendations related to JPEO information for public release
Coordinate and interface with the Army's Office of the Chief of Public Affairs (OCPA), ASA(ALT) Strategic Communications Team, and other PAO teams as appropriate
Represent JPEO at Army Strategic Communications Integration Group (ASCIG) meetings and joint public affairs meetings
Monitor JPEO public website content for accuracy
Develop and maintain JPEO social media
Coordinate and publish quarterly JPEO internal newsletter
Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Education:
Bachelor's in Marketing, Communications or equivalent.
Experience:
10+ years communications, public relations or public affairs experience, with experience in Government protocols.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
