Position Overview
RiVidium is seeking a Public Affairs Analyst (Intermediate) to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Public Affairs Office at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. This position plays a critical role in developing, coordinating, and delivering high-quality communications that support MDA’s mission, leadership, and workforce.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public affairs, journalism, or communications within a DoD or military environment and be able to translate technical and operational information into clear, compelling messaging for internal and external audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Write, edit, and publish clear, accurate, and compelling content including news articles, press releases, talking points, and internal communications in accordance with AP Style and DoD Style.
- Conduct interviews and gather information to produce stories highlighting workforce achievements, programs, and mission impact.
- Support public affairs activities for MDA events, ceremonies, briefings, and community engagements.
- Coordinate with internal MDA organizations, military commands, and external agencies to ensure accurate and timely communications.
- Translate technical missile defense concepts into accessible language for diverse audiences.
- Ensure all materials comply with security, branding, and public release requirements.
- Provide day-to-day public affairs support to MDA leadership and staff.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field OR 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
- 5+ years of experience writing and editing professional communications for government or corporate audiences.
- Proven ability to write clearly, concisely, and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling, and formatting standards.
- Experience interviewing personnel and developing stories that highlight organizational accomplishments.
- Familiarity with military or DoD environments and terminology, particularly within missile defense or related mission areas.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced government environment.
- Active Secret security clearance (required).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting a DoD agency, military command, or federal public affairs office.
- Experience working with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) or similar technical organizations.
- Experience coordinating high-visibility events or senior-leader communications.
