Media Relations Coordinator
JOB DESCRIPTION:
A permanent position under the supervision of the Senior Director of Public Affairs. The Office of Public Affairs is responsible for all marketing and communications functions of the university, including, maintaining proper media coverage for university events and developing positive relationships with state and local media.
Job duties of the Media Relations Coordinator include but are not limited to:
· Writing media releases
· Promptly responding to media requests
· Arranging and conducting media interviews and press conferences
· Event photography
· Writing and editing Cameron Magazine, the university’s alumni publication
· Assisting with creating information for the university web site
· Assisting with script development for events, broadcast and printed materials
· Communicating with CU employees and departments important information on university operations, along with staff and student achievements
· Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISION:
The Media Relations Coordinator reports to the Senior Director of Public Affairs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations or communication. Demonstrated experience in working with news media. Knowledge of higher education issues. Willingness and ability to work weekends and evenings when necessary.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in journalism, public relations or communication. Five years experience in working with the media. Knowledge of higher education issues. Willingness and ability to work weekends and evenings when necessary.
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with education and experience.
