JOB SUMMARY
The Mayor's Office of Government Relations (MOGR) is hiring Legislative Assistants for the 90-day Maryland General Assembly Session. MOGR hires two interns each General Assembly Session to maintain the legislative tracking system, assist in testimony preparation, schedule meetings, assist with special events and coordinate activities.

The Maryland General Assembly meets annually for a period of 90 calendar days beginning the second Wednesday in January and continuing to the second Monday in April. For the 2026 General Assembly Session, the 90-day session will run from January 14 through April 13, 2026. Since the legislation does not take any holidays during the 90-day session, interns are required to commit themselves to a weekly work schedule and may not take holidays or spring break.

Legislative Assistants work 32 hours each week, from Tuesday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm (with some flexibility). Compensation is $19.00 per hour. Work will be done in a hybrid setting – there may be days when work is entirely virtual, and other days you may be required to be in Annapolis in person. College students presently enrolled in a public or independent college or university are eligible to apply.
