As a member of the External & Legislative Affairs department, you’ll work at the intersection of public policy and regulatory conversations. You’ll gain experience with global public policy, federal and state regulatory affairs and community outreach while learning the extent of their interconnections and interdependencies. This opportunity will give you practical work experience, add to your educational exposure, and prepare you for your future career. This internship is designed for graduate and/or law students who have an interest in telecommunications law, privacy, policy, and regulation. 

Your work assignments will allow you to participate in impactful projects across our organization relative to a wide range of public policy issues, including consumer protection, privacy, and cybersecurity issues. You’ll collaborate with a variety of departments, including Global Public Policy, State and Federal Regulatory, Public Affairs and Corporate Social Responsibility while working with client partners across AT&T’s business. 

Throughout this 10-12 week summer internship, you’ll conduct legal research, draft presentations, and write correspondence for federal regulatory proceedings. You’ll also prepare summaries of government hearings and attend meetings and telecommunications seminars for the Global Public Policy, Federal Relations and Federal Regulatory organizations.  

What does it take to join our team? 
•    Current enrollment in a Juris Doctorate degree program and anticipate graduating between December 2026 and December 2028 and/or enrolled in a graduate degree program related to public policy
•    Proficient in legal research and writing
•    Knowledge of technology/telecommunications regulatory issues
•    Excellent communications skills, with the ability to draft presentations and correspondence for internal and external audiences 

This job assignment location is in Washington D.C. This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted.
