ELECTIONS WAREHOUSE CLERK - BISBEE 
CLASSIFIED: Position is subject to the provisions of the Merit System Rules pursuant to Arizona Law.

CLOSES:  Position is open until filled with applications reviewed upon receipt and may close at anytime.
ANTICIPATED RATE OF PAY: $18.00 to $22.50 hourly dependent upon qualifications plus a comprehensive benefits package to include membership in the Arizona State Retirement System.

NATURE OF WORKUnder general supervision of the Director of Elections performs manual labor of routine difficulty involving general warehouse and office duties; collaborates with elections staff on project planning; performs entry-level clerical work of routine difficulty; performs related work as assigned.  

Essential Functions

TYPICAL DUTIES: (Illustrative Only) Receives, stocks, inventories and distributes election supplies; assembles ballot box supply packages; performs election equipment testing; makes minor mechanical and electrical repairs on election equipment; assists with preparing training materials for poll workers; ensures that all election locations are compliant with state and federal guidelines; assists in post-election inventories; may deliver or pick-up election supplies at polling locations; operates various office and election equipment; prepares and maintains records and reports and performs specific functional duties relative to the election process.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent, two years of experience supporting elections or serving in an administrative support role. An equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities of this classification.   Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and the ability to be covered by county insurance.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be an eligible voter in Cochise County at the time of hire and remain registered during employment.  Election certification required within 12 months of hire.  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to individuals with experience working with Election Equipment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • English grammar and spelling;
  • standard clerical practices which relate to office functions;
  • use of basic hand tools; 
  • safe work practices.

Some knowledge of:
  • operating copy machines;
  • stockroom procedures;
  • inventory maintenance and distribution.  

Ability to:
  • prepare and maintain records and reports;
  • work irregular hours;
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public; 
  • follow written and verbal instruction;  
  • communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing;
  • perform assigned tasks with accuracy and understanding.   

WORK ENVIRONMENTWork is primarily performed under general supervision. Incumbent generally performs work in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Requires working extended and irregular hours to include weekends, holidays and evenings during election cycles.  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Essential functions of this position require: manual dexterity, large motor skills, ability to communicate, driving a vehicle, lifting, kneeling, squatting, climbing, crawling, stooping, turning/twisting, balancing, reaching and handling with varying frequencies.  

Heavy work: Occasional lifting and carrying objects up to 75 pounds, frequent lifting and carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and/or continuous lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 10-20 pounds. 
 
Mental Application:  Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem-solving skills are important.
