Boulder County Clerk and Recorders Office is seeking to hire 2 (two) Elections & Motor Vehicle Technicians Bilingual Preferred (Spanish)The Boulder County Clerk and Recorder's Office is currently seeking two Elections & Motor Vehicle Technicians to join our team. This hands-on role supports the needs of both divisions of the office by creating a positive collaborative relationship with the public through executing voter services and motor vehicle transactions and interactions with the public while complying with State rules and laws.

About the teams
The Elections Division manages all aspects of election administration, including voter records, ballot processing, and technical support. We are a nationally recognized, award-winning team committed to accuracy, innovation, and continuous improvement.

The Motor Vehicle Division handles vehicle titling, registration, and disability placards across three locations: Boulder, Longmont, and Lafayette.

About the position
We are seeking team-oriented individuals who provide friendly, accurate service while ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations. Strong attention to detail, proficiency in data entry, and the ability to quickly learn and apply complex rules are essential. Candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion when engaging with diverse members of the public and colleagues.

Primary Focus: These positions will primarily support the Elections Division, assisting the Voter Services Team at the front desk and handling inquiries in person, by phone, and via email. Responsibilities include processing voter registration forms for new and existing voters.

Additional Duties: Outside of election periods, these positions will assist the Motor Vehicle Division by answering phones and processing title paperwork.

These are  full-time, benefited positions that will work Monday - Thursday 7:00am - 5:30pmThese positions will require overtime, nights and weekends during election season and are subject to periods of time when vacation scheduling is not allowed (because of the election calendar). These positions will work out of 1750 33rd St., Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, these positions are non-exempt (eligible for overtime).

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Hiring Salary Range: $52,008.00 - $57,150.00 Annually

Tentative Hiring Timeline:

  • Phone Screening: Week of March 30th
  • First Round Interviews: Week of March 30th
  • Second Round Interviews: Week of April 6th
  • Language Proficiency Test: Week of April 13th
  • Reference Check: Week of April 6th

New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month (Must not have been employed at Boulder County during the 12 months prior to re-hire date to qualify). Boulder County offers bountiful benefits, including pension contributions.

Examples of Duties

  1. Compliance & Accuracy
    1. Understand and adhere to state statutes, Secretary of State rules, and Department of Revenue/DRIVES requirements
    2. Maintain confidentiality of voter and public information
    3. Complete required training and certifications, including State Election Certification and cybersecurity compliance
    4. Contribute to updates of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  2. Public Service
    1. Deliver accurate, efficient, and courteous service for elections and motor vehicle transactions
    2. Communicate clearly with the public via phone, email, and in person
    3. Handle challenging interactions respectfully and seek supervisory support when needed
    4. Contribute ideas to improve service, accessibility, and equity
  3. Elections Support
    1. Assist with ballot mailings, voter correspondence, and electronic ballot processing for military and overseas voters
    2. Manage incoming mail and maintain office supplies in line with county sustainability policies
    3. Support outreach events and assist at healthcare facilities and the county jail as needed
  4. Motor Vehicle Support
    1. Track incoming and outgoing documents accurately
    2. Maintain performance standards and certifications
    3. Answer calls promptly, providing accurate information and directing inquiries appropriately
    4. Process and enter mail-in title applications efficiently
    5. Review and audit applications for completeness and accuracy
    6. Collaborate with third parties to verify and correct information
  5. Additional Responsibilities
    1. Perform related work, as required
    2. May be reassigned during emergency situations

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of:

  • A high school diploma, or equivalent

AND

  • 2 (two) years of office experience, which may include retail restaurants, banking and others

Additional related education may count towards required experience.
